ISLAMABAD: As Pakistan prepares to elect its third consecutive civilian government, rights activists, analysts, candidates and citizens fear the elections will be manipulated, violent and may result in future instability.

There are 85,307 polling stations across Pakistan and more than 12,000 candidates are vying for 272 seats in parliament and 577 seats in the provincial assemblies. International and domestic election observers will monitor voting, with troops securing every polling booth across the country.

Additionally, with violence having already claimed the lives of more than 150 people, many are concerned about safety on Wednesday (July 25), the day voters are to cast their vote in an already marred election landscape.

Along this landscape, Arab News takes to the streets to conduct a survey among the people to find out what they expect from their incoming government.
